It is a week away

Many of you will be flying into town in a little less than a week now to enjoy some of the finest that NOLA has to offer !! Honestly, we can't wait to see ya and can't wait for you to have FUN !

The last day for artists/management/bands/venues etc to submit changes to the grids is Monday, April 25, 2011 at 8pm Central Time. This is so that the grid users will have time to print out their grids, make copies, changes, highlight them and buy tickets to all of these great shows before they leave from places far and away, or for those of us who live here- before the week gets away from us :)

Yes, there will be changes after that date - but at some point we've gotta call it....

This weekend you will also notice that venues that have not provided information or will not have shows will be removed from the grids to make it a lot easier to read !

For those of you who only want to print out what is happening at a specific venue, for now you can click on the venue name and be brought to a page that lists the shows for that venue which you can print. Rest assured, next year we're hoping to make improvements to the site and have more printing, customizing etc options available.

In the interim - happy planning, packing, travels, and best of all - HAPPY FESTING !!!

I know I'm forgetting something - but whatever it is, I'll include it in the next updates :)

It Just Keeps Getting Better !

The shows are starting to fill out and special guests are no longer 'TBA' but have been added to many. Artists are figuring out they've booked in two places at the same time (heh-heh !) and are working out those conflicts...

Later today, or tomorrow, Preservation Hall will announce this year's lineup for the Midnight Preserves ! This has become an outstanding midnight addition to the music offerings here in the Crescent City during JazzFest each year.

Keep checking back and makin' your plans! Happy Festival Season !

Music Is the Life Blood Of New Orleans

Along with food, and it's people, the natural beauty of moss hanging off the oak trees etc. But really, at the end of the day, it is the music for me.

Today is the last day of the WWOZ spring pledge drive - and I'd like to ask that if you visit this page you consider donating to WWOZ. Why? Because you can listen to them anywhere you go, on your computer, your blackberry, your android, your iPhone, ya house if you live here, the car when ya visit - etc. you're getting the picture - right?

No station I've ever listened to has gone as far as WWOZ has to promote the musicians in the local community. You can turn on the station and who knows which famous local musician, or someone just starting out, might appear on one of the shows to give a live performance, say a little about what they are doing etc. It's really great. There aren't those dreaded taped set lists like every other main-stream radio station where you just KNOW what the next song will be - you wanna know why? It's a volunteer station run by REAL people. You know - the kind with a pulse and a heartbeat?

So, I'm asking all of the fans of the grids to chip in a little somethin' somethin' today. IT doesn't have to be a lot - if you have $5 - then that's great ! If you have $500 - that's even better. WWOZ isn't picky - it's about the people...and if you can show them your love - that would be awesome !!

WWOZ is a listener supported radio station - plain and simple. Tune in today, call 'em up and make a pledge at 1-877-907-6999 or visit the WWOZ pledge page . You can even spread your pledge out over the year and pay for it each month now ! (that's cool - it helps the cash flow sometimes :))

Thanks for reading - I'm hoping you pledge.

Michele
