44 Sleeps until Jazz Fest

It is getting closer by the minute and my JazzFest Jonesing has begun in earnest ! The lineups this year, as in years past, produce much FOMS (Fear of Missing Something) as well as agonizing decisions among jammed packed nights of music. Oh, the choices !!!

Tonight I added a bunch of shows across the board, added details and ticket links to many that had not been previously available. As promised, the lineups are really now starting to hit the wire. Special thanks goes out to my friends at d.b.a who sent me an email with all of their shows from 4/27-5/11. If you've not been to d.b.a. on Frenchmen, do yourself a favor, stop in. In my opinion, they offer some of the best drinks in the City and have a stellar lineup for the Fest. (this is just my opinion, not an official endorsement and all of that mumbo jumbo).

Happy Festing everyone - lots of tickets are going on sale/went on sale this week....save your pennies (bring your lunch, and make the coffee at home) because I forsee lots and lots of shows tickets we all want to purchase!!

Festival Season has begun !

Well, now that Mardi Gras has officially ended, we should start seeing daily announcements of more shows for JazzFest. This weekend the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade will roll and of course, next week there will be fine festivities on the 17th.

More Great Things

The grids feature a few stellar new shows, updates to existing shows, and include two productions by Threadheads Records and the Threadhead Record Foundation: the 2nd annual Threadhead Thursday, and the Legendary 7th Annual Patry !

The lineup has been announced for both Threadhead Thursday, a free concert that takes place at City Park's Botanical Gardens on the Thursday before JazzFest, and the Legendary 7th Annual Patry, an incredible event that takes place on the Tuesday between the weekends. Look for both on the grids under the *Special Event row that appears at the top of the grids.

Another release by the Threadhead group, under its sister label, Mystery Street Records, is a neat app for the iPhone (iPod Touch, and iPad) to accompany the release of Sounds of New Orleans: Frenchmen Street. The app, available from the itunes store provides you a portable version of the release, with tons of lagniappe including videos, press releases, and blog posts regarding projects associated with the label. It's getting closer !!! 73 sleeps until JazzFest 2011...
