Happy Mardi Gras Y'all!

The Third Annual Nolafunk Jazzfest Series, produced by Creative Entertainment Group (CEG) and Nolafunk, will take place April 25– May 4, 2014 during the evenings of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. The series just announced The Meter Men featuring three of the four original members of the legendary Meters (George Porter Jr., Leo Nocentelli, and Zigaboo Modeliste) with Page McConnell of Phish for Friday April 25 and Saturday April 26, 2014. The Friday show features a rare appearance by opening act Stanton Moore/Marco Benevento Duo. Saturday’s show features opening act The London Souls. Tickets and more information concerning the Meter Men can be found on the first weekend tab above.

Show of the Day

There is an interesting new acoustic show posted for Friday May 2nd at Nola Brewery billed as Papa Mali and Friends featuring Anders Osborne. The band will consist of Papa Mali, Anders Osborne, Billy Iuso, Tony Leone and Mike Dillon. This will be an intimate show in a room that holds no more than 300 people. Shaggy, the Nola Crawfish King ,will also be boiling crawfish during the show. If you're interested in this show I wouldn't wait for the last second because of the scarcity of tickets. Check out the Second Weekend tab for more information and ticket links.

Show of the Day

Fiyawerx Productions are bringing the Creole Queen Riverboat shows back to Jazz Fest! On Saturday, April 26 - FIYA WATER 1 will have Oteil Burbridge, Ivan Neville, Stanton Moore, Eric Krasno, Mike Dillon, Roosevelt Collier, Jennifer Hartswick, Natalie Cressman and James Casey all on board. DJ Logic will be spinning a dance party on the top deck during boarding and as they set sail. They pushed the boarding and cruise times back to give everyone two hours after the last set ends at the Fairgrounds before they take off. Ticket info will be up early next week. I'm glad the riverboat shows are back, as they were a fun alternative to the traditional night shows. The one down side was having to leave the fairgrounds early, which they appear to have rectified. You can find more information about this show and others on the first weekend link above. Happy Festing!
