St. Patrick's Day Around the Corner

The end of this week will bring another cherished tradition in New Orleans - St. Patrick's Day, followed by the legendary Super Sunday where Mardi Gras Indians meet, and then St. Joseph's Day with all of the extraordinary altars throughout the city.

Living here can be quite a challenge and its best to remember the phrase "it's a marathon, not a sprint."

Spring has sprung and azalea's have bloomed all over the city, pollen decorates cars and porches alike and it is a mere 5 weeks until French Quarter Fest and 7 weeks until JazzFest!!!

The next few weeks should bring news of fanatastic shows and regular gigs alike. While we will sorely miss some this year, as they have moved on to that great gig in the sky, there are new talents out there filling our streets and clubs with wonderful music.

This year, as you begin to plan your evenings of music, I'd like to tell you to consider keeping a day or so free - to go where the wind will blow you and maybe pass by a few of those placed that 'you've always wanted to go there but we never seem to have time,' - or see a band you've never heard of but sounds interesting.

Happy Sunday y'all!

Happy Mardi Gras

It is full-on Mardi Gras season here in New Orleans and as such, we're taking a small break from adding any new shows to the grids until next Wednesday.

A few changes to note, not the least of which is showing all of the clubs in the grids, even if they are blank, because a handful of you have mentioned you would like to see this and a few newbies didn't 'get it' when they looked at the grids and didn't understand that by the time we get to JazzFest itself, there will be many, many listings. By the time we get to the week before JazzFest (when we stop putting in new information), we will delete clubs without any shows etc. so it will be the most useful.

There are some fabulous new features here, including the ability to 'make your own' grids etc that we've incorporated for this year and we're still working on lots and lots of others features for our next iterations.

In the interim, Happy Mardi Gras

We've Begun Populating the Grids!

After a few snafu's (including a lack of internet access for me over the past week ....grrrrrr) the grids have begun to be populated !

There will be many, many, many changes so don't get your undies in a bunch if you don't see something up there, if it is listed wrong, if it conflicts with something else that's listed on another site - because it's all subject to change at a moment's notice. Just jet me a quick email using the link to the left and let me know what needs fixin'.

I'm off to some Mardi Gras festivities tomorrow evening and parades start this weekend so there won't be additional updates until Monday or so. I've hardly begun to scratch the surface of my normal searching patterns so hang on - just a bit - please - and we'll get it all done.

Also, I guess it is time for the usual language about the contents of this site are a collaborative effort among the Threadheads and no, you cannot copy it for your own website (but you may link to ours), you cannot use the contents for the development of an app or other technology, and all that other stuff. period - end of discussion. Play nice.

Now, Anyone else wanna scream with excitement????????????

Welcome

Welcome to the
"Nearly World Famous"
Jazz Fest Grids!
~
The Grids are the premier source of listings for live music in New Orleans clubs each day and night before, during and after Jazz Fest.

The Grids 'fill-up' as we learn of new shows, and are updated almost every day.
